Holotypus: Argentinia, Provincia de San Luis, in parte australi montibus Sierra de San Luis, 1300 m s. m., leg. G. Neuhuber GN 88-77/179, Decembro 1988 (WU, planta in liquore alcoholico 70%). Isotypi: GN 88-77/189, flores et fructus in liquore alcoholico 70%, WU; semina in herbario, WU.

Körper body
Form - einzeln, abgeflacht kugelig, wenig eingesenkter Scheitel shape - solitary, flat spherical, a little depressed crown
Höhe / Durchmesser -bis 48 mm / 70 mm height / diameter - 25 mm / 50-60 mm
Epidermis - graugrün, nicht glänzend, fein gekörnt epidermis - grey green, not glossy, fine graining
Rippen - 9-12 rib - 9-12
Rippenform - fünfeckige, manchmal auch warzenartige Höcker rib shape - pentagon, sometimes also tubercles
Wurzel - verzweigt root - branched
Bedornung spination
Areolenform - rund bis oval areole shape - round to oval
Areolenabstand - 15-20 mm areole distance - 15-20 mm
Areolenbreite - 6-7 mm areole breadth - 6-7 mm
Dornen - pfriemlich, starr, meist an der Basis verdickt, strahlig gestellt, gerade bis leicht gebogen, alle Dornen meist gelb mit gleichfarbiger Basis, manchmal dunkler orange bis braun spine - awl shaped, rigid, mostly thickened on the basis, radiating, straigth to minor bent, all spines mostly yellow  including the same colour at the basis, sometimes dark orange to brown
Randdornen - meist 9 die unteren 15-20 mm lang, die oberen kürzer 11-12 mm lang radials spins - most of it 9 the below 15-20 mm long, the upper short 11-12 mm long
Mitteldorn - 1 Mitteldorn (bei jungen Pflanzen), bei alten 4 über kreuz gestellt centrals spine - 1 central spine (at young plants), 4 crosswise spines at older plants
Besonderheit - Areolen kahl, Scheitelareolen mit kurzen Wollfilz peculiarity - areols bare, crown areols with short woolly felt
