Discocactus boliviensis C. Backeberg

On our journey to the Panatanal in October 2003 we visited Discocactus boliviensis. This species has been described by Backeberg in 1963. Thousand of plants grow on a rocky area of huge dimensions. The Chephalium of these plants lacks bristles and thorns. I find a huge group of approximately 800 mm in diameter. The biggest specimen is 240 mm in diameter.
